My Charity Shop Endeavours

Sorry it’s been a while, life’s been a bit stressful lately… and I still don’t have my own digital camera!

As you may know, it was my birthday on the 25th, I raked in an amazing £75 (which is about £45 more than normal!)
So I decided this money should go to a good cause, namely, charity shops
Of that £75, I now have the grand sum of… £7
Granted, not ALL my money was spent in charity shops, I spent £13 on a pair of shorts and 22 josticks, about £5 on sweets, £10 in HMV, and £5.50 at a couple of tiny carboots, but other than that, the remaining £30 something was spent, in charity shops.
God I love those places

Here’s a short list of the things I bought and prices if I can remember;

  1. Teddy Bear – £0.99
  2. Bonbon Dish – £2.50
  3. Sherbert – £1.00
  4. Salad Tossers

  13. 4 Mugs – £3.00
  14. 2 CDs (Little Earthquakes & The Sensual World) – £11.00
  15. 22 Josticks – £3.00
  16. 6 Books (The Whole Story, Myths of the World, Fear and Trembling, The Politics of Family, Sex in Society & Leviathan)

Beyond Good and Evil (no, not Nietzsche)

Despite the enticing prospect of an insight into one of Nietzsche’s most famous books, being entirely false, I hope this post is as good as one about ‘Beyond Good and Evil’ would have been.

~

This post is, in fact, about a game (to be possibly called, Reaction) in the planning stages by my boyfriend, Vox, and his best friend, Monobi.

The game places you, the (quasi-)mortal son of two Gods. First the Sun God of the “light” side, and the Moon Goddess of the “dark” side – of which, I have been given, nearly full control.

Some ideas for the game’s “dark” side, are illustrations I drew, for a book (of illustrations), a few years ago. And here they are;

Element Air

Confused Eutaxy

When asked what he would like to contribute to the game’s initial advertising, he said;

“I have nothing to say, it’s pretty much there… ooh, a panda…”

~

In other news… the college year is finally over, and so, I have a lot more time for – you guessed it – charity shopping!

In fact, I found these little beauties in Cambridge Oxfam;

Teapot + Cup = £1.99

2 Mugs = £1.99 each

The Imp, The Devil & The Bishop

Two words. Lincoln. Cathedral.

It is the most… breath-taking place.

I’ve been three separate occasions, each lasting about three hours, so, nine hours, and I still haven’t seen the whole cathedral.

Here are some pictures from the last time I was there;

The official site is; http://www.lincolncathedral.com/

It costs about £6 per adult for admission, but once inside, you no longer care.

The carvings, the statues, the alters, the organ! The Angel choir, the stained glass, the engravings, the everything!

I can’t express in words, how great this building is.

I heartily suggest giving it a visit, if you’re ever in the Lincoln area.

~

Also in Lincoln, is this Hippie/Gothic clothing store called Salamander/Chaos.

Go. Even if you don’t want to buy anything. Just try things on, and ask the lovley staff their opinion.

I was told I have a “near perfect body for (Japanese) corsets”. That made me feel so happy.

I warn you though, because it’s so out of the way, and so specialist, prices are understandably high.

But it’s so worth it!

~

On the whole, I recommend going to Lincoln, for both the shopping and the architecture.

I hope your day goes well.

Everything!

Everything!

Grande Total – £31.72.

I urge everyone to donate money and goods to any charity shops near them. They’re an invaluable source for charities around the world, whose help are fighting to defeat heart disease, child poverty, age discrimination, Cerebral Palsy etc.

So please, donate, it’s worth it.

Charity Shops

I had another blog, a long time ago, which never really went anywhere. Mostly because it had no direction.

I will use this blog another way though. I am planning on posting any small and wondrous things I find on my travels, so that others can appreciate the tiny pleasures of life.

Well, I say ‘life’, I moreover mean, ‘Charity Shops’.

I, love, charity shops

Always have. Always will.

I have found the BEST deals of my life in these little treasures.

Now, for those you who are actually interested – go get a life – I go ‘charity-shopping’ in five locations; Cambridge, Newmarket, Bury St. Edmunds, Sleaford, and Lincoln.

Now, the reason behind this, is that it’s where I have friends & family, and I go ‘charity-shopping’ to find birthday, christmas and thank you presents, for these friends & family.

When I find a decent camera, I’ll post some of the gifts I’ve found, while rummaging in the corners of these places.

You may now be wondering – and I don’t blame you if you aren’t – why in the first place, I would purposefully look for second hand junk. I’ll tell you why. It’s wonderful (and it’s equally wonderfully cheap).

So, if you like little trinkets, and gift ideas, cheap stuff etc. bookmark/favourite this site, and check back every week or so.

Oh, and one more thing, I love you Vox.
